Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a legally registered, autonomous, and not-for-profit professional association established in 1992 and re-registered under the new civil society proclamation. EMwA operates in all regions of Ethiopia and works for the quality of midwifery education and care. EMwA has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) since 1993.
EMwA envisions to see every woman, newborn, and their families have access to standard midwifery care. The mission of the association is to promote and enhance the expansion, performance and status of midwifery profession through adapting quality and evidence based practices; adhering to the code of ethics and conduct empowering the professionals.
The primary goal of EMwA is to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Ethiopia and this endeavor is towards contributing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global initiatives.
Understanding the current state of the SRMNAH workforce is necessary to identify the specific challenges, gaps and bottlenecks which need to be addressed in order to strengthen the workforce, and to consider suitable strategies for overcoming them. State of midwifery is one of the best survey in order to understand the current status of midwifery professions and midwifery care in the entire country. It is a global and a regional plan to undertake state of midwifery in a periodical time. EMwA as one of its five years plan would like to undertake a national state of midwifery to understand the socio demographic, the distributions, the level of satisfaction of midwives, etc…. EMwA would like to hire competent and potential candidate for the following position.

Eligibility, Roles, Responsibilities, and Obligations
The state midwifery survey manager will take on the role of preparing technical aspects of survey design, including sampling strategy, sample size calculation, survey implementation, data management, analysis and report writing. As such, he/she will provide his/her expertise and advice on the implementation of different components of the survey according to the plan. This state of Midwifery is primarily intended to provide an evidence to support policy makers at national and regional levels to provide evidence based decision making related to midwifery services and to the profession and need the involvement of FMOH and other partners. Therefore, survey manager will be required to work closely with ministry of health and other assigned team members. This includes the below overall responsibilities:

The survey manager will be reporting to EMwA team and will work under general supervision and direction provided by the EMwA team.
