About Geneva Global
Geneva Global is an international consulting company that provides strategic advice, independent research, active program and grant management, as well as impact measurement to individuals, foundations, companies, and other organizations. Geneva Global has 15 years of experience working in various countries across Sub-Saharan Africa. On behalf of clients, we’ve managed over US $60 million in grants, improving the lives of over 38 million people in the region. We’ve partnered with over 650 local organizations across 14 sectors, including conflict recovery, community health, anti-human trafficking, literacy, infant and maternal health, disaster relief, water and sanitation, and education.
Geneva Global Ethiopia presently operates the Speed School Program in close partnership with the Ministry of Education and the respective Regional, Zonal, and Woreda Education Bureaus in the country’s four largest regions: Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR, and Tigray. The program provides the first three years of primary education to groups of 30 out-of-school children aged 9 to 14, equipping them to continue their schooling in the government school classrooms. Since its inception in 2011, the program has helped around 200,000 children make this transition. Geneva Global Ethiopia has worked with over 50 Ethiopian NGOs, providing them grants to implement the Speed School classrooms and its key associated components: mothers’ Self-Help Groups; Primary School Capacity Strengthening; and a pre-school Child-to-Child program. Beginning in 2017, the government education sector took initial steps towards a full adoption of the Speed School model, having funded and independently operated in 2018/19 a total 110 Speed School classes.
Geneva Global Ethiopia has agreed with the government to plan and take a set of concrete steps to accelerate the adoption process in a strategic, institutionalized manner. Hence, Geneva Global Ethiopia is recruiting a new Program Coordinator who will spearhead this process, providing technical and operational leadership to GGE in working with the respective government education institutions, both federal and regional, that will be responsible for the future sustainability and scaling of the Speed School Program.
