Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Senior Project Officer Role
The Senior Project Officer (SPO) will play a crucial role in the customer insights system. Her/his role involves carrying out effective research and managing the resulting data to get Ethiochicken the customer insights it needs to improve its service to the farmers. The SPO will be part of small but growing teams of customer insights researchers that have an agreed plan and deadlines; they will work to ensure that the agreed data is collected from the relevant stakeholders in the agreed ways.
TheSenior Project Officer will report to the Project Manager. The Senior Project Officer will be permanent subject to clearing a probation period of 45 days.
The position will be based in Addis, at least initially, but will require frequent travel to different regions where Ethochicken works.
Key tasks
Conducting interviews with stakeholders
Conducting surveys with stakeholders
Setting up and facilitating focus group discussions with relevant stakeholders
Carrying out research activities as requested
Inputting data from research conducted in a clear, concise and accurate way
Be involved in and give feedback on data collection methods and data collection tool design
Share information on challenges faced, specifically relating to misunderstanding of questions or unavailability of data
Training stakeholders, where necessary, on completion of research tools
Reporting on activities conducted, challenges faced and progress made
Collecting/sharing data with relevant partners, where requested
Working closely with the Project Manager to review progress and results of research
Reporting and communications
The Senior Project Officer’s performance will be monitored in line with each research project plan as agreed by Project Manager. The SPO is expected to write a short weekly report to outline activities conducted, and any challenges arising (a template will be provided). This role requires excellent communication and reporting skills and sharing of information is a vital component of the work.
Job Requirement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATONS:
Should be fluent in Amharic, Tigrinya, English. Knowing other Ethiopian languages will be favorably considered.
Computer literate. Excellent Word and Excel skills
Excellent listener, confident talking to people
Excellent communication and reporting skills
Excellent attention to detail, organisation and planning skills
Willingness to be based on Addis, at least initially, and to travel around the country
Desire to learn, proactive and able to use initiative
Good problem-solving skills
Interested in Ethiochicken’s work
Ability to work under pressure and Meet competing deadlines.
Education:
BA in business related fields
Experience
1-2 years of research experience, preferably in surveying, interviewing, data collection
