Position:-  System Analyst

Job Grade: -  8

Duty Station: - Addis Ababa - Head Office

Availability: - As Soon As Possible                       

JOB PURPOSE: - The purpose of system analyst is to gather and analyse user’s software requirement and prepare a requirement analysis and system design document that will be used to automate the overall business process of the exchange; to design software architecture, understand existing business process and system; to prepare/update application development policies, procedures, manuals, and standards.

 SUMMARY OF MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works with business users to elicit business requirements based on project schedule
• Prepare requirement analysis document
• Prepare system analysis and design document
• Producing specifications for new or modified systems
• Liaising with other IT staff such as programmers to produce new systems
• Analysing clients' existing systems and business models/process
• Develops solution by preparing and evaluating alternative workflow solutions.
• Defines application problem by conferring with clients; evaluating procedures and processes.
• Devise ways to add new functionality to existing software systems
• Prepare flowcharts/pseudo code or other software design diagrams for programmers to use when developing the system
• Liaising extensively with external or internal clients
• Mapping and documenting interfaces between legacy and new systems
• Understanding software development lifecycle
• Translating client requirements into highly specified project briefs
• Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability
• Conducting requirements analysis and preparing specific proposals for modified or replacement systems
• Developing solutions and related products
• Producing project feasibility and costing reports
• Working closely with colleagues, developers, testers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
• Drawing up, supervising and documenting testing schedules for complete systems
• Overseeing implementation of a new system including data migration
• Planning and working flexibly to deadlines
• Supporting users on change control and system updates
• Providing training and user manuals to users of a new system
• Keeping up to date with technical and industry developments.
• Controls solution by establishing specifications; coordinating production with programmers.
• Provides reference by writing documentation.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Prepare policy, procedures, manual, and standards that will be used as a guideline for application development and system maintenance division.
• Prepares architectural and low level design for all application software with a support from application development team
• Reviews and approves documents relating to application architecture, design steps, integration processes and testing procedures relating to each software developed including the installation and maintenance of application software as well as guidelines and standards that should be adhered;
• Oversees progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design
• Works closely with members of the development team to ensure that the software design and implementation meets the architectural goals and quality standards
• Writes documentation to provide user support for programs and for Production/operating procedures;
• Analyses user system and application needs, determine and evaluate potential solutions, develop system specifications and requirements, and design application programs to meet the requirements;
• Develops software development plan in consultation with the line manager;
• Proactively communicates progress reports, issues and risks  on each tasks every week;
• Coaches, Mentors, Trains and guides junior staffs
• Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirement

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

·         MSc\BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information System or other related field.

·         2/4 years’ experience as system analysis and currently working as system analyst
