Senior Program Manager - Sustainable Industrialization
This role is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Position Overview
The labour intensity of the textile industry makes it an ideal vehicle for industrialization. However, the rapid development of Industrial Parks and the urbanization that accompanies it, also have profound implications for living and working conditions of the workers, as well as for the environment.
The Senior Program Manager for Sustainable Industrialization (SPM-SI) is responsible for providing the leadership and development of IDH’s Sustainable Industrialization program in Ethiopia. It is IDH’s contention that long-term social and environmental sustainability is best achieved when sustainability improvements go hand-in-hand with private sector profitability. The SPM will leverage this dynamic by partnering with both private and public sectors working in the Ethiopian textile industry and the Industrial Parks.
The SPM-SI will design and lead2-3 collaborative initiatives directly related to sustainable industrialization, that will have a tangible impact. He/she will do this by establishing Public-Private Platforms to coordinate and align multiple, diverse stakeholders including Federal and Regional Governments, Municipal Authorities, major Donors and the Private Sector. He/she will then help IDH’s partners to deliver the well-defined goals of the highly-focused initiatives. Finally, the SPM-SI will look to scale and disseminate best practice throughout the national network of Industrial Parks and their hinterlands.
