VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
As a registered charity, founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger operates in 45+ countries. The international network of Action Against Hunger is represented in France, United Kingdom, Spain, Canada, USA and India. Teams in the field combat hunger on 4 fronts: Nutrition and Health, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Water, Sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP).
For our WASH Program, we are currently looking for the following professionals:
Hygiene Promoters
Duty Station: Bedeno ,Girawa & Meisso
Availability: As Soon As Possible
Required: 1 (one)
Project Duration: Four Months with possibility of extension
General Assignment:
Mobilize beneficiary communities about hygiene and management of infrastructures
1: Assist the Hygiene promoter in the training and mobilization of the members of beneficiary communities:
- Identify possible facilitators within beneficiary communities (schools, health centres, associations…)
- Conduct hygiene promotion sessions within communities, schools, health and nutrition centres;
- Conduct training sessions for community agents / Water points Committees;
- Conduct home visiting to inform and motivate families to improve their hygiene living conditions when required
- Participate to elaborate communication tools well adapted to promote hygiene education: IEC materials, posters, etc.
- Distribute hygiene items ;
- Draft a report on activities;
- Look after the materials and technical devices to ensure proper use and state.
- Conduct hygiene and sanitation assessment and compile assessment reports
- Work closely with the government local health system9 HDAs, HEW, Health facility staffs)
2: Represent the Organization:
- Develop contacts with community leaders and key stakeholders to explain and promote the project;
- Act as a link between the Organization and the beneficiaries
- Act as a link between the organization and local health system
Educational Qualifications and Skills Required:
Qualification/Level of studies: Diploma or Degree in environmental Health, Public Health , Social work or Community health related field of studies or related professional experience. Minimum 2 years of related experience for Degree holders and four years for Diploma, Experience in training, familiarity with community mobilization/awareness creation methods/ activities, hygiene promotion and nutrition issues is a plus
