About the Foundation
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation (www.packard.org) is a family foundation guided by the enduring business philosophy and personal values of Lucile and David Packard, who helped found one of the world’s leading technology companies. We continue to work on the issues our founders cared about most: improving the lives of children; enabling the creative pursuit of science; advancing reproductive health and rights; conserving and restoring the earth’s natural systems; and supporting and strengthening our local communities.
Since 1998, the Packard Foundation has been providing support to enhance access to quality family planning and reproductive health services in Ethiopia and regionally. In July 2019 the Packard Foundation launched a new five-year, Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Conservation (ALC) grantmaking strategy to protect the planet’s rich biodiversity while building thriving economic futures for their communities. In Ethiopia, the ALC program will support solutions around smallholder farmers in the southwest of the country within the Eastern Afromontane biodiversity hotspot. The PRH and ALC program teams will work closely to improve reproductive health and agricultural livelihoods for women and young people in Ethiopia.
