Green Way Farms links customers who care about good food, and small farms that care about good growing. Food which is “local” is rightly both scrutinised and celebrated along social and environmental lines. In our opinion, all produce, wherever it is grown, deserves the same. This is where we come in, supplying food rooted in climate-resilient growing, to businesses around the world. We work with a network of hundreds of small producers in Ethiopia who use biodynamic farming practices to cultivate “food forests,” which yield a diverse portfolio of produce.
With a growing team, farmer network, and customer base, we're on the lookout for supremely capable talent with a passion for food to help look after our customers and grow the business we do with them.
We are expecting to double our production this year and again the next. To help us look after the customers who are fuelling this growth, we are looking for a fresh face to join our commercial team. You will be responsible for steering our relationships with a handful of customers; making sure they are happy, strongly communicated to, and continuing to build sales momentum. In turn, this will allow our business to grow. All the products that you look after will be proudly grown in East Africa and will fuel more Ethiopian farms to adopt organic, regenerative farming practices.
You will need to have strong emotional intelligence, good commercial instinct and a long-term perspective to succeed in this role. You will need to be excited about delivering and demonstrating value at a distance, communicating with folks in the UK, UAE, Ethiopia, Netherlands, France and Germany.
Take over select buyer relationships and collaboratively map out how you will grow them
Coordinate and administrate the weekly sales and processing of orders for these customers
Look after each of their shipments, overseeing paperwork and distribution costs with an eye on where improvements can be made
Manage competing buyer demands in a way that is transparent, proactive and fair
Identify and resolve pain points in the supply chain, leading conversations with multiple stakeholders and problem-solving in the interests of long-term sales success
Ensure that quality of produce is maintained or improved, pulling feedback from customers, sharing it and making sure it leads to action
Escalate issues where appropriate to the Commercial Manager
Monitor and report against revenue and margin KPIs to the Senior Team
We are excited to work with someone who prides themselves on being:
Organised and meticulous, with eagle eyes for problem-solving
A strong communicator, confident navigating multiple business and cultural contexts
Self-disciplined and rigorous in planning for and managing competing timeframes
Plenty of initiative and a desire to grow into a leadership role
Actively curious to learn about agriculture, food and the impact both have
You have over a year of experience in a sales, business development, relationship management or hospitality role: show us that you are a people person!
You have experience building your own structure and seeing projects through, whether while working in a start-up, a “unusual” environment, or something else
You have demonstrable commercial acumen and ambition in the face of targets
You love conversation about food, agriculture and the planet, bringing a ‘black book’ of businesses or contacts that you think are doing great things in this space
You have already worked with the Google suite of tools, and are comfortable with the concept of a CRM
