The Protection Officer is responsible for coordinating and implementing GOAL’s field-based protection interventions, psychosocial support services and training activities.
The Protection Officer is responsible for the social, psychological and emotional development of Internal Displaced Peoples (IDPs), IDP Returnees and host communities. The position holder works to strengthen the psychosocial protection of Internal Displaced Peoples (IDPs) in particular migrant children (in family or unaccompanied), women, other vulnerable groups through the implementation and dissemination of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and other protocols, under the technical supervision of Senior Protection officer and coordination of Woreda/Zonal level Programme Coordinator. · BA degree in Psychology, Counseling, sociology or social work, at least two years of experience in the same/similar role in organization or association;
· Demonstrated technical expertise in protection sector that include Child Protection, PSS, GBV etc;
· Experience in working with women, children, People with Specific Needs;
· Expertise in Psychosocial support, child protection & GBV protection principles;
· Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (English, Oromiffa and Amharic)

· Good organizational skills and capacity to work independently, if necessary and/or required
· Strong capacity and experience with planning, organising and coordination
· Integrity, professionalism and expertise in processing reports, data protection, and questionnaires.
· Ability to understand the cultural context and local language of a community, and use that culture as an input for community mobilization.
