Who we are
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.
Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.
The EduCare project in Gondar is aimed at reversing this situation and contributing towards the reduction of school dropout rates through holistic support to children, caregivers, and communities in most affected Kebeles of the city.
Why we need you?
The project has two focus areas: education and empowerment. The education piece mainly focuses on students gap based educational materials supports, students’ schools capacity building and improvement of education quality. On the other hand, the empowerment aspect is focused mainly on family and community capacity building. In doing so, the project aspire to see self a reliant families and community support structure that provides quality care for children in the community.
The project has four expected outcomes to be achieved until end of the project period:
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia Bahir Dar Prgram Location, therefore, wants to hire experienced and competent consulting firm to conduct baseline study of Education and Empowernment projects in Gondar city. It has located 727 KM from Addis ababa and 180 KM from Bahirdar in the North Direction.
Objectives of the Survey
The primary objective of this baseline survey is to set bench mark for each objective, and result areas in line with the projects log frame which help to measure the results/changes/ following the project interventions. Requirement Qualifications

Scope of the Study
The assessment will be conducted in four kebeles of Gondar city and will mainly focus on partner community structures (CCSCs/CBO’s/, SACCOs, Schools), target families and their children. However, administrative, statistical and other evidences beyond these Kebeles can be used to support the assessment and make comparisons.Required Skills, Qualifications and Experiences of consultant firm
Consulting firm needs to have an understanding on the situation of children without parental care or at risk of losing parental care, the legislation, governmental programs, policies and strategies related to this target group, child protection issues, in general, and the socio-economic situation in the country, region and Gondar city level.
The firm should have proven competence and experience in conducting social researches focused on children and vulnerable community groups’ situation assessments or baseline surveys, evaluations and producing high quality reports, etc.
