Context and Scope of the Work:
The Water Technician Assistant is responsible to operate water supply system through Generators and solar system, and He/she will perform the turbidity measurement with technical support from water technician officer. He/she is also responsible to handle water operational properties in water source, reservoir, and operational sites. The position holder will operate Generator and solar system for smooth operation and service provision to ensure accurate water supply production and distribution as per Sphere and UNHCR standards.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
Ø Support the water technician officer in identification, development and review of electro-mechanical requirements, spare parts, fittings, and supplies/inputs needed for ensuring the smooth operation of the water supply systems.
Ø Ensure the availability of fuel and lubricants needed, including reasonable contingency, for running of electromechanical equipment and ensure smooth day to day operation of the system. Prepare list for items needed, initiate procurement and follow their accurate use.
Ø Prepare and put log sheets, service schedules, pumping schedules and in place water discharge tracking systems at each pumping stations and supervise the implementation.
Ø Collect and compile log sheets from each site, produce activity progress reports and forward to water technician officer as per the requirements and schedule.
Ø Ensure daily availability of potable water meeting UNHCR minimum standards in each of the tap stands. Supervise and ensure well-functioning of the service reservoirs, distribution lines, and water meters and over all pipe networks starting from source up to final points.
Ø Regularly assess the functionality and maintenance requirements of electromechanical parts, pressure and distribution lines, tap stands, water meters and other water supply systems.
Ø Establish and train community-based water management committees from beneficiaries, equip them with the vital hand plumbing tools for maintenance, care & operation of the system. And craft effective community participation, monitoring system and feedback mechanisms that enable beneficiaries to own and sustain the system.
Ø Identify, train, supervise and manage community plumbers, water system operators/guards, water system care takers and volunteers.
Ø Daily supervise and monitor the performance, progress and daily assignments of water system guard/ Operators, and water system caretakers.
Ø Any additional tasks assigned by supervisor.
Ø TVT Diploma or University degree in Water supply system, electromechanical, plumbing works or similar field.
Ø Minimum of two years for Diploma holders and 0 year for first degree
Ø NGO experience is a plus.
Ø Basic computer knowledge (word, excel)
Ø Basic English spoken and writing.
Ø Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ø Practical experience in Electromechanical maintenance & new accessories installation and plumbing technical works.
Ø Communication in local language is an advantage.
