SUMMARY
The “Supporting the Ministry of Mines” (SUMM) in Ethiopia project is a six-year, GAC funded project led by CIRDI. The project is designed to strengthen the capacity and organizational management of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas at operational and strategic levels. The project’s ultimate objectives are to improve resource governance and sustainable long-term management of the Ethiopian mining sector.
The project aims to enhance data acquisition capacity of the Geological Survey of Ethiopia (GSE), and strengthen mineral licensing and administration institutions of the MoMP. Overall, the project aims to design and implement priority capacity-building interventions, systems development and organizational initiatives to support country-driven strategies to encourage increased revenue generation and transparency, mitigation of negative environmental impacts and stimulation of sustainable economic growth.
Reporting to the Deputy Director and the CIRDI communications manager, is responsible for planning, developing and executing a variety of communications, knowledge products and marketing programs in support of the SUMM project. The Officer will support the implementation of the communications and engagement strategies, and will lead a variety of projects and programs from conception through to execution. The Officer will also take a key role in connecting inter-office activities and ensuring seamless communication with stakeholders.
