Since March 2006, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has been working with refugees and service providers to understand the causes of gender based violence (GBV) and to support individuals who suffered from such abuse. The goal of the GBV Program is to minimize the consequences of violence against women by providing quality case management for survivors and to build the capacity of service providers and the community to prevent and respond to issues of gender-based violence. In the Somali region the GBV program operates in three refugee camps—Kebri Beyah, Teferi Ber (Aw Barre), and Sheder.
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the CWI Manager, the Senior Officer will provide technical support and oversight to the development and implementation of response and prevention-related programming in the three refugee camps. This position provides mentorship and capacity building to GBV Response and Prevention Officers, supports reporting and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, enhances GBV collaboration and relationships among partners, and leads trainings as necessary. This person will promote GBV guiding principles and survivor-centered perspectives in thoughtful and creative ways throughout program activities and among coordinating partners in the protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors.
