Typical Responsibilities - Key end Results of the Position:
· Respect the dignity of beneficiaries, careers and community members at all level
· Plan and implement OPT/SC activities as outlined in the protocol to achieve objective of the project
· Throughout the project implementation, work with and ensure transfer of knowledge, capacity and skill to HEWs and HWs in each health post and SCs to target woredas
· Ensure that HEWs and HWs provide quality SAM case management service to children under five years in accordance with the MoH and SPHERE standard
· Train and support the HEWs in sever acute malnutrition case management and follow-up (e.g referral to SC and TSF) according to national and international guideline
· Support community based volunteer (FDAs) for implementation of community component of the project(OTP/SC)
· Ensure each and every admitted child receive adequate and quality medical nutritional care through existing resource
· Ensure the health post is adequately equipped and supplied with the necessary nutritional and medical requirements- plumy’nut, vitamin A, routine drugs, nutritional equipment’s, nutritional/medical stationeries, etc
· Assist HEWs and HWs in the planning and promotion of awareness creation on health and nutrition key messages disseminating in the community
· Organize quality registration, recording and documentation of patient related data in the OTP and SC according to national protocol thereby ensuring accurate data collection and reporting to woreda health office and PIE’S project office according to approved formats
· Participate in the organization and delivery of nutritional training for health worker and HEWs in the woreda
· Ensure that cross cutting issues (disability, HIV &AIDS and Gender) are mainstreamed in all level of activities
· Participate in the conduct of nutritional studies and survey in the woreda
· Carryout any other relevant duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
· BSc / Diploma in nursing or other related field from recognized health university
· At least two years relevant experience for BSc holder or 4 & more years related experience for Diploma holders.
· Experience in nutrition program (OTP/SC) implementation- case definition and care, clinical management, OTP/SC MANAGEMENT, data collection and compilation, working with counterpart for lasting intervention, training of health workers
· Have a demonstrated experience in emergency nutrition programme, notably Community based Management of Acute Malnutrition
· Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills to plan projects, and timetable agreed activities.
Work experience in Health Service Extension Program is an asset
· Good written and communication skill
· Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situation and frustration
· Ability to relate and motivate local staff effectively
· Interest and ability to train staff
· Good organizational and interpersonal skill
· Ability to work in remote and challenging environment
