Under direct supervision of the Senior Operation Manager, the Procurement and Logistics Officer is responsible for the management of all project procurements and assist with processing service contracts, leases and rental agreements; coordinating logistics and travel arrangements; and supporting project trainings, workshops, meetings and surveys in the field in full compliance with SP policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
o Serve as main technical focal point for activities related to troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of mechanical parts of Hand pump (Indian Mark II and Afrideve pumps and Extra Deep well) of water supply systems of Galena/West Guji .
o Ensures that all hand pump sites have enough back up easily moving parts in consultation with his/her supervisor;
o Prepare detail specification including item description, part # and quantity of spare parts necessary to fix identified problems of mechanical parts of pump for water supply schemes.
o Identify & ensure the procurement of minor tools required towards operation & maintenance of the water supply systems including.
o Prepare & put in place monitoring plan for the operation & servicing of the water scheme.
o Conduct the water quality test after the water scheme rehabilitated and able to conduct both the Bacteriological and support the chemical test with Institution.
o Participate on WASH hardware supervision and follow up.
o Participate on Weekly and Monthly report of the field activities.
o Organize and deliver Training on operation and Maintenance of hand pump for water Mechanics or Technician.
o Provide necessary technical support to WUC, operators and technician of the water supply schemes.
o Prepare monthly progress reports and keep the supervisor informed of the maintenance and/or installation of water supply scheme with hand pump;
o Assume other duties assigned by supervisor;
Education / Experience Needed
§ Diploma or Degree in Water resource Engineering and any related fields
§ Experience working as Hand pump maintenance and Operation Mechanics, and Sanitation Facility constructions.
§ Minimum two years of experience in WASH preferred
§ Previous INGO work experience preferred
Skills Required
§ Fluency in English and Oromia languages required
§ Excellent communication and analytical skills
§ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to large groups of people
§ Ability to think critically and creatively and answer unexpected or difficult questions
§ Ethiopian driving license and ability to ride a motorbike preferred
§ Ability to work in a remote environment with only basic necessities
§ Ability to work effectively in a team environment
