About the Freedom Fund
Summary
The Freedom Fund has been working in Ethiopia since 2015, focusing its work on generating improved understanding and practices of safer migration, providing socio-economic support to those most likely to migrate, promoting learning and good practices among civil society, and strengthening governance structures and systems to improve migration practices and provide support to migrant workers. By 2020, the Ethiopia hotspot program had impacted over 141,000 survivors of trafficking and vulnerable women and girls.
In addition to our work on safer migration, the Freedom Fund has been awarded funding to address abuse, exploitation and trafficking of Child Domestic Workers (CDWs). With funding awards from both the US Department of State and the Oak Foundation, these projects are aimed at protecting and upholding the rights of CDWs, specifically those working in domestic servitude in Addis Ababa, by challenging abuses against CDWs and creating ethical living and working conditions for them.
Given our expanding portfolio of work, we are recruiting a Program Officer with expertise in child domestic work and child rights as well as experience in child protection programing and program management in Ethiopia.
