Background
Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is a technical arm of the Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia responsible in conducting research in health and nutrition, managing public health emergency and providing reference laboratory service. Currently the Institute is conducting various researches in Nutrition and health. Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate (FSNRD) of the Institute is closely working with nutrition implementing sectors and development partners’ to make all program decision evidence based.
Multi-sectorial Approach for Stunting Reduction Project (MASReP) is government-led multi-sectorial integrated program to be implemented in Seqota Declaration (SD) woredas with support of African Development Bank (ADB) for the actualization of one of the eight goals of SD project, zero child stunting by 2030. EPHI, Food science and Nutrition Research Directorate (FSNRD), is intended to conduct a baseline assessment for this implementation project.In view of this, EPHI, FSNRD, would like to recruit Nutrition research coordinator who will support this research project. The incumbent will closely work, facilitate, and liaise with relevant experts at EPHI, FSNRD, and other stakeholders.
Job Description
1) Coordinate the research project
2) Technically lead activities planning, monitoring, and evaluating of progresses
3) Support and independently work on specific objectives and deliverables
4) Technically lead and independently work in capacity building, data collection, cleaning, analysis and technical report writing relevant to the research project
5) Provide support and work in writing manuscripts from the research findings
6) Liaise with EPHI research directorate/units
7) Network with ministry of health, regional health bureaus and partners
8) Support and participate in other related activities as needed by the directorate
● MSC/PhD in Human nutrition/ Public Health Nutrition
Experience
● A minimum of six years’ experience for PHD and eight years for MSC in research work with published articles (at least 2 recent publications as a first author in the last five years) in peer reviewed scientific journals
● Working knowledge of STATA data analysis software package is required
Language Skills
● Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic is mandatory

● Excellent analytical, writing, synthesis, communication and facilitation skills.
● Ability to coordinate activities in research and/or academic and public health institutes
● Ability to coordinate research workshops and conferences
● Ability to work both independently and as member of a team and to handle multiple priorities is required.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills are required
● Experience working with existing health policies, strategies and plans of the country
● Experience of working with partners at international, regional and national levels
● Familiarity with local and international research ethics
● Able to travel for supervision or workshops across all regions of the country at least 30% of his/her contract period.
Accountability
● Both the Civil service and EPHI Human Resource Development rules and regulations will be applied to guide the day to day services.
