CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
As a key and senior member of the SCI Ethiopia CO Humanitarian Team, the Humanitarian Information, Communications & Analysis Advisor role is responsible for leading on the humanitarian information, communication and knowledge management work, as well as for developing and producing key trends and situation analysis’ products, reports and updates, aimed at enabling and supporting the Humanitarian programming and emergency response delivery in Ethiopia.
The Humanitarian Information, Communications & Analysis Advisor role will collaborate effectively with support and programme functions in ensuring that up-to-date information is communicated, shared and used at all segments of the humanitarian programming cycle in Ethiopia. S/he is responsible for monitoring key trends and context analyses as well as transforming large sets of data and information into coherently summarized written pieces, dashboards, and other various forms of visualization that will feed into better informed response strategies and programming. In addition, the role will lead on response-related special projects, which include media and donor visits, report publications, milestone celebrations, partner liaisons and representation, as needed.
In collaboration with relevant internal departments, functions and teams – and in particular with CO Communications and Advocacy and/or MEAL colleagues to ensure that information analyses are fed into lessons learned and best practices, as well as in liaison with other key stakeholders, the post-holder will provide key contributions and support to developing and producing relevant information reports, communication assets and key deliverables that enable SCI Ethiopia CO to meet the communication and information sharing needs, promotion, advocacy/lobbying and fundraising objectives required for fulfilling the Humanitarian Ambition in Ethiopia. The role will ensure Save the Children’s brand and values are streamlined and reflected across all relevant internal and external communications channels, meeting content needs in all aspects, and establishing a singular ‘voice’ for the Humanitarian Action in Ethiopia
The post-holder will work as part of the SCI Ethiopia CO Humanitarian Team, where and when needed will be seconded to and/or will work closely with the Emergency Response team(s) and the Country Office to produce high quality analyses, information and communication products, summaries, reports, dashboards and other related materials. The post holder will also lead on managing inputs and outputs for internal communications and reporting, such as member update calls, situation reports (‘sitreps’), presentations and other on the organisational information systems and platforms.
S/he will need to have a strong prioritization skills, ability to multitask effectively and pursue the completion of a variation of communication outputs that will contribute to higher visibility and understanding of the response, ranging from the internal organisational audiences to the global donorship. The role will ensure Save the Children’s brand and values are streamlined and reflected across all relevant internal and external communications channels.
This is a higher-level role, aimed at coordinating a diverse Humanitarian information management, communications and analysis portfolio, contributing to strategy development, advocacy, fundraising and resourcing for Humanitarian Action, leading special projects including impact reports and anniversaries, and liaising with other iNGOs where necessary.
