The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was established in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical and clinical research and training/capacity building.
Objective
The overall aim of this post is to strengthen local TB programmatic response through capacity building, evidence generation and creation of communication platforms and skills.
Reporting Structure
The IT and Communication specialist will be based in the TRAC secretariat office at AHRI and will work closely with the TRAC secretariat, NTP focal person and project PI at AHRI. He/She will report to the TB research coordinator, TRAC chairperson and NTP coordinator or their delegates.
Duties and Responsibilities
TRAC logo and Website development:
· Facilitate the development of TRAC logo and its approval.
· Facilitate the designs and development of website for TRAC and TB response in Ethiopia.
· Creates different pages for the website based on the agreed focus areas with attractive and layout/graphics designs.
· Produce different creative animation, video and sound content to transmit messages about TB for the TRAC website and social media pages.
· Creates templates for and manages content on TRAC associated websites for conferences, symposiums, special events and research opportunities.
· Design online registration platforms, pre and post tests for trainees, TRAC conferences attendants, Opinion polls etc. and out summarise and publication of results.
· Periodically update the website and social media pages, and device mechanism to retain/remain posted the TB community and other followers.
· Regularly scan global and national media houses, sites of research institutions, partner organizations, UN agencies, other country experiences.
· Ensure accessibility of the resource centers for all prefrail researchers and TB program officers.
· Develop SOP and code of conduct for TRAC website, online library and social media pages.
· Document design details, keys, passcodes and share with responsible bodies at AHRI and TRAC secretariat.
· Mentor young fellow, interns on website design utilization of social media, communication of media contents and ensure sustainable utilization, maintenance and functionality of the resource centre, website and social media pages after the project.
Requirements
Advanced degree (MA, MSc in journalism and communication, computer science, literature and language or related field of studies.
Work Experience
· At least 6/8 years of work experience in communication, website management, health and health commodity branding, organization of behavior change communications, media campaigns etc. in Ethiopia respectively.
· Understanding of research, public health interventions and work experience in media house and health related company are advantages.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
· High level of Computer, IT and software skills.
· Excellent photography and videography skills.
· Good coordination and communication skills.
· Fluency in Amharic and English languages.
· Ability to work independently with no or little supervision.
