Background:
The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation and development support to vulnerable people and communities over 30 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery, and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.
Position Overview
The Environmental Health (EH) Officer reports to Emergency Rapid Response (ERR) Manager and is responsible to assist ERR manager in planning, management, and monitoring of EH intervention around Harshin, kebribeyah, Ellele, Adadle, Qohle, Elkari, Hargele and Barey Woredas. The program focuses on maintaining to ensure adequate environmental health conditions are met in drought affected area. The principal role of the EH Officer is to do assessment/planning, designing, development/rehabilitation of water supply and water trucking and the day-to-day operation of the EH programs. Furthermore, the EH Officer will Assist the ERR Manager in maintaining effective operational processes supply chain, HR, Finance teams and managers, and demonstrates consistent representation and coordination with partners as well as proper management of the financial, material and other resources under the program.
