About the Organization:
VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 which currently amended to 626/2009 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in four of the Regional States of the country.
VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for Area Legal Coordinator.The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:
1. Major Responsibilities
§ Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, supervises and controls Legal activities of Area and Branch Offices;
§ Represents VF MFI before trial and appellant courts, in hearings and administrative legal actions at Area level;
§ Prepares pleading and appeals when VF MFI institutes proceeding against individuals and body corporate;
§ Prepares legal documents and defences to charges and appeals instituted against VF MFI for presentation to courts after approval by supervisor;
§ Appears and litigates in court on behalf of the Company;
§ Receives decisions passed by court and reports to concerned body;
§ Participates in preparing legal opinions on claims, proposed acts, contract and other legal instruments;
§ Provides legal opinions and explanations upon request to different work units;
§ Participates and gives opinions in the preparation of rules, regulations, directives and other legal related cases;
§ Periodically updates all legal documents in accordance with the Laws of the Country;
§ Assists Area Office and Branches in handling legal matters;
§ Closely follows-up loan repayment schedules and takes the appropriate action on overdue loans in consultation with concerned Area Offices and Branches;
§ Supervises, supports, trains, and coaches the Area Attorney;
§ Completes all performance management activities including: performance planning, monitoring, annual performance appraisals of Area Attorney;
§ Prepares progress reports and submits to the Legal Service Manager/Area Office Manager;
§ Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
2) TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS
* Able to communicate and good presentation skill;
* Good knowledge of the court system and procedures, legal ethics;
* Ability to interpret, analyse and solve problems;
* Ability to act in professional and ethical manner;
* Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team;
* Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of integrity;
* Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
3) Qualification and experience Requirements
· LLB Degree in Law A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
