Basic Function of Position
The Fraud Investigator assists in the timely processing of all requests for FPU support for case processing at post. Receives and coordinates requests for investigations throughout Ethiopia into claims of relationship, identity, personal history, marital status, orphan status, and other visa and passport applications from adjudicators, other US Embassies, USCIS and other sources; prioritizes cases that require field investigations; ensures timely responses to requests for investigations; establishes and maintains exemplar books of both bona fide and fraudulent documents; maintains good working relationships with government and private offices throughout the country; and provides internal training on fraud trends and techniques for new arrival officer and LE Staff.
Coordinates DNA sample collection at post including the scheduling of applicants for sample collection, the coordinating of contractors to conduct sample collection, the coordinating of sample delivery to courier services by the American witness, and other duties as needed. The incumbent reports directly to Fraud Prevention Supervisor. Incumbent serves as an incidental operator of official vehicles and meets all requirements outlined in 14 FAM 433
SALARY
NOTE: For ordinarily resident employees, salary will be paid in local currency using the established exchange rate.
WORK HOURS: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Duration of Appointment: Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period.
