Context
Under the overall supervision of Protection officer in Addis Ababa and the direct supervision of Head of Sub office concerned; and in collaboration with the rest of the Protection unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality case management services and safe referrals. They will ensure the response to Protection cases are in line with Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) guidelines on Protection and GBV for IOM Ethiopia.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Provide confidential and comprehensive case management services grounded in protection principles and a survivor-centred approach.
2. Provide emotional support and direct assistance to clients and ensure timely referrals and follow-up on individual cases, in line with the case plan. This can variously include, emergency material support, accompaniment, cash assistance and further referrals.
3. Through regular community presence, create and strengthen networks with community leaders, service providers, camp management, to support establishment of safe entry points, build trust with the community and ensure individuals at high-risk and those with protection needs receive compassionate and timely support.
4. Identify, train, and supervise community volunteers involved in protection components, particularly, outreach activities; including, by providing on-the-job training on Protection principles, GBV guiding principles and core concepts, effective communication, and active listening and PSEA.
5. Ensure client information is captured accurately and ethically, stored safely and confidentially, in internal databases.
6. Share weekly and monthly reports on cases and new protection trends with supervisor; participate in internal case management meetings and flag emergency needs to the attention of the supervisor.
7. Regularly coordinate with and participate in Protection and GBV inter-agency structures; identify, report and update gaps in service provision and referral pathways in target areas.
8. Assist in protection mainstreaming and GBV risk mitigation interventions through regular engagement with IOM units on safety, dignity, accessibility, and privacy of their services.
9. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
10. Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
11. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
12. Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
