In Ethiopia, TLM is involved in early leprosy case detection in targeted high burdened area of Ethiopia; Prevention and reduction of disability burden in specific leprosy burden areas and empower People affected by leprosy and persons with disability, their family members, and communities and live a dignified life.
We are recruiting for a Zonal project coordinator for TLMI Ethiopia’s Dare to Dream project which is going to implement in East Gojam Zone of Amhara region (Enemay, Debay Tilatgen, Enarj Enawga and Shebel Berenta woredas). This role will also manage the project once it commences.
The Zonal project coordinator will be based in East Gojam Zone Health Department, Debremarkos as a secondment staff with frequent travel to project areas and others leprosy high burden woredas of the zone.
Project Overview
Dare to Dream (D2D) project seeks to contribute in prevent leprosy transmission in Ethiopia by strengthening the health system to be able effectively find, diagnose, treat and manage complications of leprosy promptly, especially among rural women and children.
The project will work in partnership with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to pilot a new, integrated and comprehensive model for leprosy control in rural hot spots in selected woredas. The project will train and equip healthcare providers at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels with the required skills, tools, and resources to accurately diagnose, treat, refer and manage leprosy and disability complications.
The project will strengthen the health systems by investing in innovative technology, virtual consultations, close monitoring & supervision structures, and robust information management systems. Along with the health workers, the project will also engage and train key community stakeholders, including persons affected by leprosy, their local associations, faith leaders and other community-based organisations to play an active role in early detection of leprosy cases, ensuring compliance to treatment, promoting community and family-based self-care to prevent disabilities, and reducing stigma and discrimination against people affected by leprosy and disabilities.
What you will be doing
We are looking for a Zonal Leprosy project coordinator secondment to East Gojam Zone Health Department, Amhara Region. The overall purpose of the candidate is to coordinate and strengthen Leprosy program implementation and improve performance through high impact activity interventions and focused health facilities Organizations of persons affected by Leprosy (OPALs) and community support including public, private, and other health facilities in collaboration with Program coordinator, regional, Zonal and woreda TBL officers.
Applicants must have a relevant post graduate degree in public health, Epidemiology, or related field with a background of Bsc in Nursing or Health officer and possess skills, knowledge and experience at the following:
