The Donkey Sanctuary is looking for an experienced and reputable organisation / individual consultant to conduct an assessment on the institutional and community needs of a donkey welfare clinic and a high-tech donkey hospital managed by the College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture (CVMA), of Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
The Donkey Sanctuary (TDS) has been working with Addis Ababa University since 1995, conducting research on the health problems of working donkeys in Ethiopia and providing clinical care and general welfare to working donkeys of Bishoftu and surrounding areas. This involved constructing a high-tech donkey dedicated hospital at the CVMA in 1999, and establishing a donkey welfare clinic in Markato Grain Market in 2008.
As part of our evaluation work and planning for the future, both AAU and The Donkey Sanctuary require an evidence-based assessment to provide an up-to-date understanding of what the needs are for the hospital and the donkey welfare clinic. It is expected that the findings from the needs assessment will contribute to informing how The Donkey Sanctuary best supports the work of the hospital and clinic in the future, and how they contribute to improving the health and welfare of donkeys and mules in Bishoftu and Addis Ababa.
