Country Consortium Coordinator for Disability Rights Project

Together for Inclusion (TOFI) is an innovative consortium project on the rights of persons with disabilities in Ethiopia. It is a collaboration between Disabled Persons’ Organisations (DPOs) and mainstream NGOs in Ethiopia and Norway, and a total of 15 organisations are collaborating to advocate for rights, build capacity and raise awareness. The project activities are implemented within the thematic areas of Human Rights Advocacy, Inclusive Education and Economic Empowerment, in addition to an integrated focus on mental health within all three areas. The project was started in January 2020 and the tentative end date is December 2024, with a possibility of extension.

Our Country Consortium Coordinator is moving on to new challenges, and we are looking for a replacement for this exciting and prestigious role. As Coordinator you will work closely with the Country Lead who is based in Norway. You will provide overall coordination and oversight to the project partner organisations to ensure the timely implementation of project activities. You will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities, in accordance with the project results framework and annual plans.

Main roles and responsibilities:

• Coordinate the consortium’s implementation of programme activities, according to the objectives, actions and time frames outlined in the results framework and annual plan. This includes holding regular consortium meetings, delegating tasks, ensuring collaboration between consortium partners, information sharing, prioritizing, liaising with the thematic leads, etc. 
• Collaborate closely with the project’s Country Lead, based in Oslo, Norway. This includes regular digital meetings and discussions, following up on coordination tasks, gathering information, keeping the Country Lead updated on important developments, etc.
• Coordinate and work closely with national, regional and local partners and relevant authorities.
• Ensure quality monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual planning of project activities submitted on timely manner.
• Carry out follow-up and support visits in the project area.
• Write internal and external reports in compliance with the deadlines, donor requirements and quality standards.
• Use the M&E system to track project progress against the annual plan and follow up with consortium partners when there are implementation delays.
• Coordinate the end line survey, including planning, logistics, field team work plans and progress, etc.
• Other tasks as necessary.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:

Educational level and qualifications required:

• Must have MA/ BA in Inclusive Education, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Special Needs Education, Project Management, International Development, or other related field of studies.

Experience:

• 3 years for MA
• 6 years for BA
• 2 years’ experience in supervisory or coordinating position

Relevant experience in disability projects or disability rights promotion is desirable.

The following competencies are crucial for this role:

• Awareness and understanding of social development issues and policies relevant for persons with disabilities, such as CRPD, SDG, and inclusive education and economic empowerment.
• Excellent command of the English language including both written and verbal. A lot of the project communication takes place with project partners abroad.
• Excellent skills in communication, networking, strategic thinking, planning, coordination and leadership
• Knowledge of programme cycle management
• Project monitoring and evaluation skills
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
• Previous experience working with national or international NGOs is a strong advantage
