Job summary
As part of strengthening and improving respiratory viral surveillance activities, EPHI would like to recruit a skilled and competent laboratory quality management expert. The qualified individual will coordinate and facilitate National Influenza center quality management system sustainability and ISO 15189 accreditation. The job holder is a technical expert in laboratory quality management responsible for the implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of NIC laboratory quality management system as per national and international standards. Job holder perform regular follow up and monitoring of all internal quality control procedures starting from sample collection to release of the report in NIC laboratory.
Specific duties and responsibilities
· Develop plan of action based on the teams annual and project operational plans.
· Ensure the overall implementation of laboratory quality management system at National Influenza Center.
· Regular follow up and monitoring regional Influenza Testing laboratories in overall quality and reporting perspective.
·Develop laboratory polices, guideline, manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs) including job aids/formats according to ISO15189 requirements.
· Regular follow up and monitoring all internal quality control procedures are in place and implemented.
· Participate i mentoring andsupportive supervision activities of regional laboratories as needed.
· Ensure the availability of laboratory commodities and reagents in the laboratory and sentinel sites
· Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory diagnostic devices and equipment.
· Guide in specimen management including optimal specimen transport.
· Maintain smooth communication among the technical team
· Compiling and reporting weekly and monthly reports to the team lead and project coordinators
· Facilitate and participate in coordination technical meetings and relevant workshops
· Any other task deemed necessary to achieve the objectives of the annual plan of the team assigned by immediate supervisor and directorate
· Deliver other task deemed necessary to achieve the objectives of the annual plan of the team assigned by laboratory coordinator and team lead.
·Post graduate degree (Master’s degree) in Microbiology or Laboratory quality management with medical laboratory technology background.
· Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience with at least one year as laboratory quality management expert.
· Demonstrated progressive working experience w in a medical diagnostic/ research laboratory setting as Laboratory quality officer
· Demonstrated expertise in molecular testing activities, with adequate knowledge of laboratory quality management system and ISO1518 accreditation requirements and biosafety and biosecurity as well.
· Experience on molecular techniques such as conventional PCR, real time PCR and multiplex PCR
· Effective in communication, multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skill.
·Ability to meet deadlines; work independently and cooperatively with team members.
· Strong Knowledge of computer systems and operations.
