Job summary
As part of strengthening and improving respiratory viral surveillance activities, EPHI would like to recruit a skilled and competent safety and sample management expert. Job holder perform or follow the correct procedures in the specimen collection, transportation and handling of respiratory and other samples and ensure that the specimens are handled and managed according to biosafety and biosecurity guidance.
Specific duties and responsibilities
· Receive authorized and complete requests for viral diseases screening and diagnosis
· Organize and disinfect working areas to ensure safety
· Prepare or customize the standard Operating procedure (SOP) for specimen collection, handling, transportation and storage
·Ensure the availability of required supplies and recording formats for specimen collection, transportation and handling
· Transport specimens according to respiratory viral specimen transportation guideline
· Facilitate the preparation/revision and implementation of biosafety and biosecurity protocol.
· Support inventory management system of the laboratory.
· Transport specimen according to respiratory viral specimen.
· Keep records and proper documentation on samples management and lab supplies and equipment.
· Deliver other activities assigned by the team lead and lab coordinator
Job Requirement
· Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory technology and 10 years with relevant work experience or MSc in Microbiology or clinical laboratory with eight years relevant work experience.
· Demonstrated progressive working experience in a medical diagnostic/ research laboratory setting as safety and sample management.
· Demonstrated expertise in safety, sample collection, sample processing and sample management·
· Effective in communication, multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skill.
· Ability to meet deadlines; work independently and cooperatively with team members.
· Strong Knowledge of computer systems and operations.
· Perform any other activities given by the immediate supervisor
