Job Summary
Pastoralist Concern (PC) and its implementing partners has been granted “A Convenio Project of Women Rights and Economic Development in Somali Region” on Political Participation, Gender Violence and Capacity Building of women to be undertaken at 4 Pastoralist Woredas & Jigjiga City Administration from four Zones (Dawa, Fafan, Afdhere and Liben) in Somali Regional State. The project areas are among the hard-to-reach woredas in the country and have been given priority the region on the improvement if the socio-economic status of the region.
The Communication and Advocay Expert works Under the direct supervision PC’s Convenio Project Coordinator (CPC) at the Addis Ababa Office level is responsible for Managing and coordinating programme outreach efforts in the zone/woredas; implementing advocacy activities for Convenio, human development and programme interventions. S/he is responsible to enhancing media exposure of the Conveion core results; Assisting in dissemination of key results, human development and programme information to identified target audiences, using most appropriate channels. The Communication & Advocacy expert represents PC values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. The communication & advocacy expert is responsible for providing strategic and practical advice to the PCU team.
Scope of the Technical Work/Accountabilities
Media:
Maintain regularly updated records of media contacts (in radio stations, TV stations, websites, etc).
Assist in drafting /contribute to and translating press releases for events and project milestones.
Disseminate press releases widely within zone.
Assist in promoting quality and quantity of media coverage on the Inclusive Growth and Development programme.
Collect information on Convenio projects for the media.
Arrange press conferences and interviews.
Serve as a media spokesperson after receiving briefings from supervisors, and de-brief supervisors on any interviews participated in.
Monitor media for coverage on the Convenio projects result, achievements or issues pertaining to the PCU and share results with project coordinator and other experts in a timely manner.
Publicize the Convenio projects events or achievements when necessary.
