Pastoralist Concern (PC) is a pastoralist initiated, inspired and led Civil Society Organization (CSO) committed to Ethiopian pastoralist development and founded in 1995. As our people are from pastoralist communities, we know and understand pastoralism and its dynamics not from blue prints but from having lived the life. Job Summary
Pastoralist Concern (PC) and its implementing partners has been granted “A Convenio Project of Women Rights and Economic Development in Somali Region” on Political Participation, Gender Violence and Capacity Building of women to be undertaken at 4 Pastoralist Woredas & Jigjiga City Administration from four Zones (Dawa, Fafan, Afdhere and Liben) in Somali Regional State. The project areas are among the hard-to-reach woredas in the country and have been given priority the region on the improvement if the socio-economic status of the region.
The Gender & Protection Officer will be responsible for the timely and successful implementation of protection programme with the objective of providing timely and effective protection to populations of concern, as well as supervising protection interventions. The Officer must also have the ability to forge strong partnerships with government entities, other UN agencies, and NGOs to facilitate the operation’s protection objectives. To achieve this the Officer will need to build and maintain effective relations with communities of concern. The Project Officer is the technical position at Woreda level under the Convenio project, so s/he is accountable for the Convenio Project Coordinator and is expected that Convenio project results/outputs to be achieved in his/her Woredas contributing to the achievements of the project as a whole.
