Overall objective:

The objective of this recruitment is to provide an opportunity for youth to develop their skill and equip with development program experience and support the program support with the skill and experience young people have.

Required Number:  two

Period of Employment: 6-months

Responsibilities

• Map out, mobilize, and motivate out-of-school youth in the catchment of the target city to join a functional Literacy program.
• Develop a comprehensive weekly and daily lesson plan that depends on the out-of-school youth’s needs and implement it promptly as necessary.
• Facilitate lessons and instructional activities with the principle of experiential learning, learner interests, level of learner’s literacy and numeracy skill, and inclusive & gender-responsive sessions.
• Create a supportive and positive classroom environment/ youth-friendly learning environment.
• Prepare instructional aid materials, coursework material, and homework assignments, boost out-of-school youth independent learning activities.
• Establish positive relationships and communication with learners and partners.
• Monitor & track the performance of learners, record, and examine the lessons learned.
• Prepare and administer Functional Literacy Assessment tools and ensure the Kefeta/government functional literacy assessments.
• Collaborate with other Kefeta technical officers to integrate the functional literacy program with other capacity building and Kefeta’s service packages.
• Capacitate youth volunteer who works for mentoring out-of-school youth for their independent learning.
• Prepare and submit Functional Literacy activities progress reports. 

Job Requirement

Qualification & Experience

• BA degree/Diploma in education, and other related fields. 
• Experienced in teaching young people and other non-formal education programs are preferable.

Technical and other Skills

• Have the skill to mobilize out-of-school youth and the ability to work with young people at their preferred time including out-of-working hours (weekend and in the evening)
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity, flexibility, and teamwork.
• Ability to facilitate inclusive and gender-responsive pedagogic sessions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in both local and English languages.
