Background:
The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI, https://ahri.gov.et) established in 1970 through the initiative of
the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations as a leprosy research institute made breakthrough contribution in understanding the immunology and eventual improved treatment (MDT) that changed the global landscape of leprosy epidemiology. AHRI is re-organized by the decree of the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 376/2016 as biomedical research, clinical trial and biomedical research capacity building arm of the Federal Ministry of Health. The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading center for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Addis Ababa University, the institute of public health is renowned for its research and capacity building. These three institutions are working in partnership on the Skin Health Africa Research Programme (SHARP, https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/research/centresprojects-groups/sharp#research). SHARP is a multidisciplinary research program aiming to identify strategies for improving experiences of individuals with “severe stigmatising skin diseases”. To attain this aim the project will conduct a survey to determine the burden of skin diseases, and assess the feasibility of decentralized care.
We are looking for dedicated and competent researchers-project manager for the population-based survey and clinical assessment of skin Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) in Kalu district in south Wollo zone. The position requires frequent field travel to Kalu districts of South Wollo zone and stay up to three months during the data collection period. The position holders are expected to carry clinical assessment, develop training manual for diagnosis and detection of skin diseases, data collection tools, organize training for the survey team, and train the team. The place holders are required to liaise with project partner at the LSHTM, AAU and AHRI. Administrative and coordination work will be as per AHRI rules and regulation.
Main duties and responsibilities;
· Liaise and coordinate with AHRI and LSHTM in the design of
o training materials for skin diseases screening, detection and diagnosis
o CRF for clinical data collection
· Plan, organize and train filed survey team data collection tools and training materials
· Conduct clinical assessment of individuals identified by the survey team as affected by skin diseases
· Conduct planed quality checking on weekly bases when the data collection is on progress
· Communicate with the field coordinator, data team at AHRI and SHARP coordinator for daily routines
· Contribute to analysis and write up of interim and/or final report(s) or manuscript
· Participant in conference and present results as might be required
· Willing to be available to supportive the health centre team when required
· Coordinate with the PhD students in the implementation of the research activities
· Ensure effective communication between the multi-disciplinary SHARP research team
· Contribute to SHARP other thematic areas in achieving project milestone as assigned by senior staffs
· Coordinate other related duties as assigned by the project

Job requirement
Qualification & Experiences:
MD with MPH or MPH with MSc in Tropical Dermatology
Experiences:
· Minimum of 2 years experiences in clinical practice
· Have experiences in training materials and TOR development
· is advantageous having experience
o in survey work with evidence of achievement
o in research with publication in reputable journals
· Good communication and organization skills
· Demonstrable skill in running ToT or teaching
Desired Competencies
· Knowledge of different data management software like REDCAP
· Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
· Fluency in English ; spoken & written
· Endurance to work under pressure
