To supervise international/foreign sourcing and procurement of merchandises, through the instruction of Import manager, to ensure smooth flow of shipments and on time arrival with the minimum possible cost under the framework of international & local regulation
Duties and Responsibilities
Generic Duties:
Lead, coordinate and oversee day-to-day operation of team members.
Set clear team goals and follow up their implementation.
Ensures employees follow health and safety regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises and evaluates all merchandises related import activities of the company.
Places an order to the supplier on time considering the lead time and consumption rate which the whole planning is managed by production.
Coordinates the management of the merchandises through efficient import execution.
Builds relationships with existing vendors and develops prospective suppliers to keep up with demand and drive down costs.
Coordinates import shipment activities, including customs clearance and documentation.
Frequently follow up orders that has been placed with the foreign supplier to be able to get the shipment as planned.
Closely follows up and ensures imported merchandises have arrived on time and cleared timely form port and custom.
Supervises the preparation and organization of all import related documents.
Closely supervises the settlement of payments related to bank due, freight, transport, insurance, taxes & duties, and clearing services.
Follows up import routines through import follow up system and updates import status to the line manager on time.
Manages the import claims for all the short landed & damages or over shipped materials with the insurance company & supplier.
Supervises import files in supporting data are readily and easily accessible way.
Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to imports.
Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor
Job Requirement
Qualification and Skills
BA or MA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Management, or related fields.
Experience
5 years for BA
3 years for MA
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
Supervisory and leadership skills.
Familiarity with international trade regulations.
Understanding of e-business / e-procurement systems
Computer literacy, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher amongst others.
Time management skills.
Ability to make decisions on the go in liaison with the relevant stakeholders.
