Background
The Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA), established in 1996, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of women and girls in Ethiopia. Recent conflicts in the Afar and Amhara regions have significantly increased the vulnerability of women and girls to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
In response to this critical situation, EWLA is undertaking a participatory assessment to identify the main barriers hindering SGBV survivors' access to justice, legal aid, and essential support services within these regions. This assessment aims to empower survivors, strengthen the legal framework, and ultimately contribute to a more just and equitable society for all. Therefore, under this ToR, EWLA plans to conduct participatory assessment in order to study and identify the main barriers that hinder SGBV survivor women and girls from having access to justice, legal aid, and support services in the Afar and Amhara regions..
