About TechnoServe:
Everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future. This simple idea has been at the heart of TechnoServe’s work around the world for over 50 years. TechnoServe is a pioneer in leveraging the power of business and markets to create sustainable pathways out of poverty.
The low-income communities in which we work are full of enterprising people. Their small-scale farms and businesses are the keys to economic development. But they face many challenges: low literacy, lack of access to jobs and markets, unpredictable political dynamics and, increasingly, the effects of climate change. For many women and young people, the challenges are even more daunting. Working with TechnoServe staff, people around the world are lifting themselves out of poverty. The results are amazing...when incomes increase and living conditions for families get better, they are able to access health care and education previously out of reach. Communities and even whole countries are better off.
TechnoServe is committed to advancing gender equality guided by our Gender Policy, launched in June 2015, which necessitates actions focused on both our programming and our corporate practices and culture. By investing in gender equality and women’s economic empowerment, we increase project effectiveness, strengthen our organization, and mobilize greater resources. We recognize that maximizing the inclusive economic growth that is required to achieve widespread prosperity requires the full and unencumbered participation of women and girls. Our Gender Policy and commitment to programmatic excellence necessitates that our work and our organization engage, empower, and benefit both women and men.
Program Description
The aim of the Job is to facilitate the construction activity for sustainable waste management in the wet mills. By establishing and using vetiver wetlands, pulp hopper and connecting channels the wet mill operations will be sustainable with reduced environmental impact.
In addition to the aforementioned, TechnoServe has been a prominent actor in the construction of water management systems across various regions of the country for an extensive period. This endeavor has significantly impacted the nation and facilitated sustainable coffee processing. However, we have observed a dearth of individuals possessing the knowledge and skill set required for wetland construction. Hence, we seize this opportunity to impart knowledge and skills to interns hailing from the Gedeo zone. By doing so, we ensure the continued implementation of wetland constructions even after the program concludes
