Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background. We are legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) as National NGO and as INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022) and Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732); it is also processing its registration in Yemen. We are currently seeking an experienced Junior Environmental Health Professional to join our mission-driven organization.
Job summary
The junior environmental health professional will support the implementation of hygiene, sanitation promotion, and water supply activities. He/she will utilize appropriate hygiene promotion approaches, adhering to standard principles, and ensuring a high level of community participation in various outbreak response interventions.
He/she will also be responsible for mobilizing communities, and play a crucial role in promoting public health preventive interventions including sanitation campaigns.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to all stages of project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation related to water, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and outbreak prevention.
Conduct capacity-building training sessions for healthcare workers, community health workers, and rapid response teams,
Engage actively in risk communication and community involvement initiatives for various outbreak prevention and response.
Coordinate and facilitate interactive hygiene promotion activities to drive social and behavioral change communication.
Organize and facilitate hygiene and sanitation campaigns with partners and refugee structures.
Develop feasible activity plans, procurement strategies, and spending plans for cholera outbreak response activities within the grant period.
Participate in and conduct various health and WASH-related needs assessments, and develop action plans for effective hygiene and sanitation promotion activities.
Contribute to the design and production of appropriate hygiene Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
Maintain health/WASH data, records, and lessons learned, and share them accordingly.
Foster productive partnerships with stakeholders, including community leaders, health facility staff, and beneficiaries, actively seeking feedback.
Participate in local coordination mechanisms, such as Health/WASH working groups, as needed.
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for technical and line managers.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Education
Degree (BSC) in Environmental Health Science from an accredited Institution and has active License to practice in Ethiopia.
