Background
Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is a national organization mandated to manage, build research capacity, and promote and strengthen public health research activities in the country. The institute also synthesizes comprehensive health-related data and evidence that public health-related decision-making relies on. Currently, EPHI, in collaboration with partners, is planning to conduct the HIV Bio-Behavioral survey among Female Sex Workers (FSW) in Ethiopia.
As part of implementing the study, the EPHI would like to announce a vacancy for competent and interested individuals for the following posts. The qualified individual will be functioning in collaboration with a member of the HIV survey team.
Duties and responsibilities
HIV Counselor is responsible for a professional in providing essential counseling services to the participants of HIV/AIDS bio behavioral survey among highly vulnerable population in Ethiopia. She/he must be good at providing advice, aware, inform people and help them to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS infection.
· Obtain informed consent from eligible study participants
· Conduct interview or oversee the interview process(if using self-interview)
· Ensure that information collected is securely saved and/or stored after the interview
· Assist in the collection, processing and storage of biologic specimens
· Provide pre-and post-test HIV counseling based on testing guideline
· Complete relevant forms and processes
Required skill
· Experience in HIV bio behavioral survey and or surveys involving Venus blood drawing, storage and processing
· Certified training on HIV testing and counseling (HCT) and familiar with national HCT& ART guideline
Required educational Qualification
· BSc and above in the field health sciences (nursing, midwife, public health, medical laboratory), social sciences, social work and having of 6+ years demonstrated experiences on HIV testing and counseling, ART care provision;
