Department Overview | |||
Pact seeks a Nutrition Advisor for the proposed USAID-funded five-year Growth Through Nutrition Activity to improve the nutritional status of women and young children of Ethiopia. This position is contingent on award. | |||
Position Purpose | |||
The Nutrition Advisor will be responsible for technical leadership of the nutrition aspects of the program, ensuring the implementation of high-quality, evidence-based interventions, and managing a team of senior staff and sub-partners to ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all activities and products generated under the project.
The Nutrition Advisor will lead the implementation of technically sound and innovative approaches, in close collaboration with Government of Ethiopia stakeholders, to increase optimal nutrition, WASH, and agriculture behaviors; improve the quality of nutrition services; build nutrition capacities of frontline health and agriculture workers; strengthen nutrition competencies in agriculture and health teaching institutions; and strategically incorporate nutrition objectives into multi-sector policies. | |||

Leadership · Ability to sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with internal colleagues and contacts in donor and peer organizations · Deep understanding of Pact’s strategy and how efforts contribute to the greater good · Ability to consistently work within internal process and procedures · Strong interpersonal and team building skills · Proactive engagement in corporate initiatives Project Management · Strong planning and time management skills · Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex ideas to diverse audiences · Ability to problem-solve difficult issues · Ability to multitask with ease, adapting to frequently changing priorities · Strong negotiating and conflict resolution skills · Proficiency in developing and managing a budget Technical Skills · Strong experience in Nutrition and one of the following fields: health, water sanitation and hygiene, social and behavior change communication, and/or agriculture · Strong knowledge and understanding of donor policies and regulations · High competence using common desktop applications and internal systems People Management · Demonstrated proficiency in supervising staff, including providing honest feedback · Ability to mentor others

Preferred Qualifications | |||
· Advanced degree in nutrition or related field, with an emphasis on community nutrition, public health nutrition, SBCC, or other relevant sub-specialty. · Minimum of seven years of experience designing and implementing multi-sector nutrition programs. · Significant expertise providing technical assistance to project/host country government staff working on nutrition and SBCC activities. · Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of partners with varying interests and priorities in the fields of nutrition, health, agriculture, humanitarian assistance, resilience, and WASH. · Prior experience in the Ethiopian nutrition sector desirable, preferably including experience with national and sub-national level coordination under the National Nutrition Program. |
