The John Snow, Inc. (JSI) implemented USAID-supported Strengthening Ethiopia’s Urban Health Program (SEUHP) is seeking to hire highly qualified Emergency WASH Coordinator (one position) and Emergency WASH Cluster Coordinator( two positions)
Summary Roles and Responsibilities:
The Emergency /Drought WASH Coordinator will provide overall coordination, technical leadership and management of the drought related emergency WASH activities under SEUHP in selected cities/town in Oromia , Amhara, Tigray and SNNPR regional states; and Harari and Dire Dawa city administrations. The coordinator will help to forge strong partnerships with SEUHP implementing partners, emergency response taskforces (ERT), WASH plat forms and other relevant partners at the national and regional levels
Qualification and Experience:
Minimum of first degree in sanitary engineering, water engineering or civil engineering with WASH related experience: MSC in related field of study is preferred: At least five years of work experience, out of which 3 years of progressively responsible experience in designing, implementing and monitoring water, sanitation and hygiene projects: Experience with WASH facility related construction: Experience in emergency situations is preferred: Demonstrated success in providing hands-on capacity building and technical assistance to professionals /stakeholders: Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with government counterparts at all levels, local organizations, and other program and partners: Familiarity with design and construction processes/steps for WASH facilities: Strong leadership, strategic planning, interpersonal and communications skills: Excellent technical skills in hygiene promotion and community mobilization in relation to water and sanitation activities: Thorough knowledge and understanding of current disaster management issues in Ethiopia and understanding of roles of different stakeholders: A good understanding of policies related to WASH Program, strategies, WASH facilities technology options and social components related with the WASH sector in Ethiopia: Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft word, Excel, communications systems. Knowledge of Engineering Software program like AutoCAD and Water CAD: Strong oral and written communication skills and fluency in both Amharic and English.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Reporting to: Senior Environmental Health Advisor.
Reporting to this position: Emergency WASH Cluster Coordinators (2)
Duration of the Contract: One year from March 2016 to February 2017.
II. Emergency WASH Cluster Coordinator
Summary Roles and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the regional SEUHP teams in Amhara and Tigray, the Emergency /Drought WASH Cluster Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and management of the day-to-day implementation and monitoring of the drought related emergency WASH activities in five towns/cities in Amhara and Tigray Regional States. S/he will help to forge strong partnerships with SEUHP implementing partners, emergency response taskforces (ERT), WASH platforms and other relevant partners at the regional and town/city levels.
Qualification and Experience
Minimum of first degree in environmental health or public health with environmental health background: At least 4 years’ work experience, out of which 2 years of experience in designing, implementing and monitoring water supply, sanitation and hygiene projects :Experience with WASH facility related construction: Experience in emergency situations is preferred: Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with government counterparts, local organizations and other programs and partners: Familiarity with design and construction processes/steps for WASH facilities: Strong coordination, facilitation and communication skills: Excellent technical skills in hygiene promotion and community mobilization in relation to water and sanitation activities: Knowledge and understanding of current disaster management issues in Ethiopia and understanding of roles of different stakeholders: Strong oral and written communication skills and fluency in both Amharic and English. Knowledge of local languages is a plus.
Duty Station: Kombolcha, Amhara Regional State
Reporting to: Amhara Regional Manager
Duration of the Contract: Eight months from March 2016 to October 2016.
