ROLE PURPOSE:
The child protection social worker will ensure the implementation of Save the children’s child protection program within the IDP Centers in Gedeo zone, ensuring that all potential child protection target groups are reached in a safe and protective environment.
JOB SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare detail care plan of action for the support of separated, unaccompanied and other vulnerable children and children with disabilities.
· Conduct regular follow up on care arrangements, health condition, nutritional status, psychosocial conditions of UASC and other vulnerable children on acceptable interval and on a case by case basis.
· Ensure that all IDP children are benefited from the child protection services and follow up of the day to day activities of Child Friendly Spaces and youth program (youth center), follow up the day today activities of child led clubs and community based child protection committees.
· Coordinate the smooth service delivery in child friendly spaces, youth centers, IDP sites play grounds to make sure that services are delivered in do not harm principles and are accessible by all children.
· Conduct regular deliverance of supplies for the consumption of child friendly spaces, youth centers, IDP sites play grounds and health centers.
· Liaise with line manager, logistics and other departments as necessary for the fulfilment of necessary amenities for the implementation of the child protection program.
· Maintain a proper record and documentation of children’s list, distribution lists and reports in safe and confidential manner.
· Timely respond to cases that need referral services from and to Save the Children and ensure the documentation of such cases.
· Provide urgent solution for incidents related to child protection and GBV cases in coordination with other partners including health institutions.
· Play key roles in coordinating and supervising child protection related activities through coordination and collaboration with implementing partners.
· Produce weekly, monthly and other ad hoc updates on the implementation of child protection in emergency services and provision of inputs as needed based on request coming from different departments.
· Organize capacity building trainings for child led clubs, social workers, volunteers, CFS facilitators, child protection committees and other community based structures, community members/representatives, foster parents, and vulnerable children in consultation with line manager and child protection team.
· Take measures and recommend directions to improve the quality of child protection works and to maximize the benefit children should get from it.
· Follow up the proper functioning of the facilities availed in the CFS and youth center and elsewhere by Save the children to render services in the principle of value for money.
· Conduct robust need assessment and inform line manager on the proposed action and prepare timely and emergent response plan based on the need assessment finding.

· Implementation of emergency child protection program activities within the IDP camps.
· Timely and effective monitoring and evaluation of program activities
· Documentation and experience sharing of progress and challenges
· Timely and proper utilization all materials by the children and other endorsed individuals.
· Coordination with department and units in Save the Children, government office, UN agencies and Implementing Partners including IPs with a complimentary role to main stream child protection services.
MINIMUM QUALFICATION AND EXPEREINCE
Skills and Abilities:
· BA Degree/ College Diploma in Sociology with 2 years’ experience for BA or 4 years for Diploma holders
· Highly developed interpersonal relationship building and interpersonal skills
· Highly developed verbal and communication skills including fluency in English
· Strong time management and organizational skills
· Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
· Very good conceptual understanding of the job
· Strong interpersonal skill and customer handling
· Very good skill in communication
· High level of attention to details and quality
· Computer literacy
