JOB SUMMARY: The Emergency Logistics Specialists is responsible to support emergency programme delivery through Logistics coordination, which involves liaising and working closely with all members of the Logistics / Supply Team, advisors and other SCI staff, ensuring that programmes are forward-planning, accurate in their supply needs, and responsive to changing circumstances. The position holder will ensure permanent visibility of Logistics activity through concise reporting to line and matrix managers. Key Logistics issues should be prioritised and recommendations made with practical solutions in mind. Moreover, the incumbent will act as the security focal point to assist the Program Operations Manager in the development of security and emergency preparedness plans, and be actively involved in the development and implementation of effective Logistics / Procurement plans. S/He will manage significant external relationships, for example, with suppliers, government bodies, other Non-governmental agencies and partners.
Job Requirement
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED To be considered to the post applicant must have university Degree in Business Managementor other related discipline with a minimum of 4 year significant NGO experience in logistics management, within a complex/large scale country programme and in emergency response/humanitarian environments; substantial experience in all technical areas of logistics operations including procurement, transport/distribution, warehousing and stock management, fleet management, asset management, communications, and security. Applicant must have experience of developing / implementing a complex international supply chain to support different types of programmes, and coordinating resources to meet the programme objectives in remote field bases with limited infrastructure. S/He must be strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English with experience in managing multicultural teams.
